A Budget-Friendly Design Software Bundle

We came across a software bundle on Humble Bundle called "Complete Design Studio" and thought it was worth flagging for members — particularly those building out a secondary workstation, training junior staff, or looking for low-cost tools for early-stage concept work. To be clear upfront: AIBD has no affiliation with Humble Bundle, the American Cancer Society, or the software publisher (Richdale Ventures, formerly Ashampoo). We're simply sharing information we think could be useful.

WHAT'S IN THE BUNDLE

For a pay-what-you-want price starting at $30 (for the full bundle), the bundle includes five titles with a combined MSRP of $859:

  • ArchiMaster 3D Expert (MSRP $499.99) — the flagship item, aimed at floor plans, elevations, sections, and CAD import
  • Cadsoft Personal Architect Online (MSRP $119.95) — cloud-based, collaborative design tool
  • ArchiMaster 3D Kitchen & Bath (MSRP $59.99)
  • ArchiMaster 3D Ultimate Home Design (MSRP $99.99)
  • ArchiMaster 3D Landscape and Deck (MSRP $79.99)

Proceeds support the American Cancer Society, and the bundle has raised over $1,180 so far. The offer has about two weeks left, and redeemed keys expire December 31, 2026, so don't sit on it if you're interested.

WHERE IT COULD GENUINELY HELP AEC PROFESSIONALS

This isn't a Softplan or Chief Architect replacement, but there are a few practical use cases where it could earn its keep:

  • Fast client-facing visualization: ArchiMaster's photoreal rendering and walkthroughs are solid for early client meetings, before committing time in your primary CAD/BIM platform
  • Training ground for new hires or interns: the interface is far gentler than production software, making it a reasonable place for someone brand-new to spatial design to build intuition before moving to industry-standard tools
  • Kitchen/bath/landscape add-ons as a niche supplement: if your firm occasionally scopes small interior or landscape packages, the specialty modules could save licensing costs versus a full-seat purchase of a dedicated tool
  • Secondary or field-use machine: at this price, it's low-risk to load onto a laptop for site visits or quick concept sketching without touching your primary licensed seats

WHERE IT FALLS SHORT

  • No automatic framing generation or structural detailing — the publisher's own comparison page admits this gap versus tools like Chief Architect
  • Not built for full construction documentation — standards for plan sets call for multi-level plans, cross-sections, and code-compliant framing plans that this bundle isn't designed to produce at a professional level
  • Mixed reputation — user reviews of this publisher's related bundles report bugs and inconsistent customer support, so treat it as a supplemental tool, not a mission-critical one
  • Weak interoperability — limited DWG/BIM ecosystem integration means it won't slot cleanly into a firm's existing collaborative workflow with engineers or contractors

BOTTOM LINE FOR MEMBERS

At $30, it's a low-risk way to experiment, train, or handle lightweight visualization tasks — just don't treat it as your production plan-set tool. If you try it out, we'd love to hear how it performs in real studio use.
