Colorado launches new building code designed to encourage efficient, all-electric homes.
The Colorado Energy Office published its Model Low Energy and Carbon Code today, which will become the state’s new minimum building code on July 1, 2026. Details are scarce, but if the White House follows through on a potential emergency declaration, it could boost U.S. housing supply and improve affordability.

Committee Volunteers STILL Needed
Certification Outreach Committee:
The committee, led by Councilman Angel Silva from Houston, TX, is seeking individuals with expertise in marketing to help develop resources that support CPBDs in promoting their designation effectively.
Recertification Committee:
Under the guidance of Councilman Bruce Yancey from Norman, OK, the number of suspended CPBDs has dipped below 100 for the first time since February, but the council wants to cut that in half over the next 90 days. Join the team on a 90-day mission to cut that number in half by 2026.
One more thing—we want to lead with transparency. AI was most likely used to complete this post in one way or another. Don't blame the technology if you find a mistake; in most cases, our emails are written by humans and AI-supported. Now and then, they are AI-generated and human-edited. Both humans and AI still make mistakes.
