Designers, Let's Talk Strategies

A lot of building designers I talk to are working solo or in very small teams—trying to keep up with clients, codes, and business questions mostly on their own. It can feel like there’s nowhere to take the “How are other people handling this?” questions.

We created AIBD Office Hour to change that.

Once a month, AIBD Members get together online for a live, informal “office hour” where they can:

  • Ask questions about projects, codes, clients, or business
  • Hear what’s working (and not working) for their peers
  • Get out of their own head for an hour and feel less alone in the work

There’s no formal presentation—just a guided, discussion‑based call with other professionals who do what you do.

The catch: Office Hour is a members‑only benefit.
If you’d like to be part of it, you’ll need to join AIBD first.

As a Professional Member, you:

  • Join a national community of 1,000+ residential design professionals
  • Get access to tools like the Designer Docs and CAD Detail libraries
  • Save on education and ARDA entry fees
  • Access events like Office Hour, Coffee with Bernie, and more for no additional fee
  • The comfort of knowing an organization is out there fighting for your right to design

For Building Designers, Professional Membership is $315/year—about a dollar a day—for that mix of community, protection, and practical resources.

If you're not a designer, but you're in the industry, we also have Associate Membership which is only a yearly investment of $195, and for large companies Corporate Membership at $1000.

Corporate Membership has its own additional benefits, but the main benefit for Associate and Corporate is access to 1000+ Building Designers, many of which are certified with AIBD.

P.S. Whether you ever join AIBD or not, we’ll still be out there in hearing rooms and committee meetings fighting for your right to design across the United States. That advocacy work takes time, travel, and people paying close attention to proposed laws and regulations, and it’s your membership dues that make it possible. If we don’t have enough members to support that work, who else is going to track and challenge unfair legislation moving through dozens of states, countless counties, and hundreds of cities every year?

Join AIBD Today and ensure your right to design is never taken from you.
