Midweek Vibe: We are the champions!

Hey Reader,

You survived Monday and crushed Tuesday, and now Wednesday beckons you to take a break and celebrate this week's Midweek Vibe.

“Wednesday is a day to help others celebrate life. You and only you are accountable for what you extend and give to others. One smile not only increases your value, but it gives joy to each person you meet.” – Byron Pulsif

Now on to why "We are the champions!" (You sang that in your head as you read it, didn't you?)

Did you know architecture was once an Olympic sport?

If you can believe it, the International Olympic Committee has awarded gold medals in architecture to several "athletes" over the years.

During the first four decades of the modern Olympic Games, 151 medals were awarded for music, painting, sculpture, literature, and architecture.

An art competition was held as part of the Olympics in 1912. It was called the Architectural Tournament, and it was open to architects from all over the world.

The first architect to receive an Olympic gold medal was Swede Carl Larsson, who won the event in 1912.

He was followed by British architect Sir Edwin Lutyens, who won in 1920. Other notable gold medalists include Finnish architect Alvar Aalto, who won in 1932, and American architect Richard Neutra, who won in 1960.

So, don't forget to add "Olympic gold medalist" to your list of goals!

That gap shows up as frustrated homeowners, costly callbacks, and designs that look dated the moment someone needs a walker, wider clearances, or better‑planned kitchens and baths. Join the AIBD High‑Performance Homes Team for “A Practical Guide to Universal Home Design” (1.0 P3 CE), a...
