Today at 11:00 am ET: AIBD Office Hour

Today at 11:00 am ET, you’re invited to join this month’s AIBD Office Hour, our free, members‑only virtual meetup where AEC professionals drop in, ask questions, and share practical solutions with peers in real time.

Bring a project challenge, a business issue, or simply listen in and offer your perspective—there are no slides, no script, just members helping members (Elective CEs awarded).

This Office Hour will feature a real‑world negotiation story from AIBD Executive Director Steve Mickley, FAIBD, who recently used tactics learned from former FBI negotiator Chris Voss to get a stalled client to re‑engage and move forward with a project.

Steve has been previewing the story in recent Midweek Meander posts, and during Office Hour he’ll walk through exactly what he said, why it worked, and how you can apply similar tactics in your own practice.

Beyond the story itself, Steve will also share other negotiation tools drawn from Voss’s work—such as using tactical empathy, asking calibrated “How” and “What” questions, and creating the illusion of control—so attendees can learn how to use them to land clients and keep projects moving.

After his short share, the floor opens up: you can bring any question related to AIBD, the industry, client interactions, or current project challenges.
