Reminder: Nominations for the AIBD College of Fellows

Hello Reader,

Various professional organizations chose the name College of Fellows to honor their distinguished members who have made significant contributions to their fields, seek to advance the profession, and mentor young professionals.

The name College of Fellows has a long history and rich meaning. It derives from the Old English word féolage, which meant “a partner in a business” or “a shareholder. "

The word fellow also conveys a sense of camaraderie, mutual support, and shared interests among members of a group or profession.

The American Institute of Building Design (AIBD) College of Fellows celebrates the exceptional contributions of building designers to their profession and society. Unlike other types of fellowships that are based on academic merit or financial need, the AIBD College of Fellows is based on professional excellence and service to the industry.

The AIBD College of Fellows is the highest honor that the AIBD can bestow upon its members.

The privilege to nominate is reserved for certified AIBD Professional Members only. But if we (The A-Team) could do it, the letter would begin like this:

My colleague, [Colleague's Name Here], an AIBD Certified Professional Building Designer, has demonstrated remarkable dedication, creativity, and innovation in home design.
Their work consistently demonstrates an exceptional understanding of aesthetics and functionality, harmonizing the two in their designs.

They have not only created beautiful homes but also enhanced the quality of the built environment and positively impacted the lives of other professionals.

In addition, [Colleague's Name Here] has shown a strong commitment to our profession by actively participating in industry events, sharing knowledge with peers, and mentoring the next generation of home designers.

As you might imagine, a complete nomination takes a bit more than just a recommendation letter.

You’ll also need to include supporting materials that showcase the nominee’s work, like examples of their architectural wins, literary contributions, or community involvement.

To make sure you’ve got everything covered, head over to AIBD.org/college-of-fellows-nomination-form. You’ll find all the details there, including qualifications, required documents, and guidelines, to double-check that you’re eligible to nominate.

By nominating [Colleague's Name Here] to the AIBD College of Fellows, you would be acknowledging their extraordinary achievements and contributions to the field of home design. It is an opportunity to celebrate their hard work and dedication and inspire others in our industry to strive for such excellence.

Let us come together to celebrate [Colleague's Name Here]'s outstanding contributions.

You’ll be glad you did.

Best regards,
The A-Team
