There isn’t just one path to becoming a professional building designer.

Some enter the profession through school. Others learn through years of practical experience. Many do both.

But that creates an interesting question:

How do you demonstrate what you’ve learned?

The Certified Professional Building Designer® (CPBD™) certification exists to provide building design professionals with a credential that demonstrates professional knowledge and experience.

CPBD certification addresses the disciplines that working building designers encounter every day—from design and construction to building codes, building science, and the technical knowledge necessary to turn ideas into buildable projects.

For qualified building designers, certification provides something simple but important:

A professional credential you can put behind your name.

CPBD can become part of how you present yourself to clients, builders, colleagues, employers, and others who want to understand your professional qualifications.

If you’ve spent years developing your abilities as a building designer, it may be time to put a credential behind that experience.

The first step isn’t applying.

It’s simply finding out whether CPBD is right for you.
